MoonsMagicMountains

As a full moon rises over the cloudy northern shores of Cape Town, I am full and happy and warm. The past few days have been so full. Lemme tell you.

 Thursday: Journey to Cape Point:

We spent most of the day traveling down the peninsula to be greeted by one of the most beautiful sites I’ve ever seen. Immense sky + immense ocean = immense BLUE. We were literally all frolicking around, running to the end of the peninsula. For those who know about my Gymnastics Around the World Project, here is a picture of the latest installment that I will title “The Farthest South / Farthest Away from Home I’ve Ever Been Cartwheel”

It was incredible. We were all beaming. Then on our way home we got to play with penguins. WHAT. So Thursday was nothing short of a magic day. Seeing some scenery after a while in the city was exactly what my little Polkvillian heart needed.

Friday: BUH. My first experience with South African health care and the first day of class. EWW.

So, this little bladder infection needed to GO. So my lovely TA Eboni and I headed to the hospital, which has a GP within it. A day later, I can say the medicine worked but I had my doubts at the time. THEY WERE SO RUDE. The ladies at the front desk were just straight up rude. The doctor was barely listening to me it seemed. Asking all these random questions. Prescribed “Urizone”, a powder in a packet that you mix with water and drink and is apparently really strong. I was skeptical but WHATEVER I took it and now I feel worlds better. In the end, it was ok.

Then I went to class. BUHHHHHH IM SO DONE WITH SCHOOL. Mentally, that is. But oh, there are papers and papers and papers to do, my friends. It will definitely be challenging. Class from 10-12:30, then from 2-4:30. That’s a long Friday, folks. I came home and took my usual bubble bath in my Narnia-like bathroom and my stress melted away. I smell a tradition.

Saturday: Kaitlin Cheers Up and Climbs a Mountain Day.

Woke up and realized one reason perhaps I’d been in a somewhat sour mood (besides my bladdeeeeeee) is because I haven’t been listening to music!! So I took my ipod out on the porch in the early morning light and journaled, watching the sun hit Table Mountain. FELT WORLDS BETTER! The power of music = GEEZ. Took a walk downtown by myself (which never happens, so it was nice) and then decided to go with a small group up Lion’s Head, a mountain right behind our house (I’m saving the Table for later). It took about 2 hours and the view from the top was AWESOME. This is such a beautiful place.

Here's me lovin it big-time:

Here are my housemates Sarah and Thomas

Tomorrow = laundry, homework and a barbeque!

Let me know how all of you are doing, please??

Love

Kaitlin
